During the first year of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, a large number of countries closed their schools partially or totally, affecting multiple aspects of the social and family life of millions of children and young people. It is not yet known exactly how the ravages of the present contingency will be reflected on the academic future of students. During the last weeks, the educational issue in Mexico has risen positions in the public agenda, and the discussion about the strategies for the reopening of schools has been at the center of the political and social scene. This is why the measures for a return to classes must be promoted as these will be the basis for the return of educational activities. Among the biosecurity protocols that stand out the most, due to the great protection they provide, which goes hand in hand with how simple it is to perform them with proper guidance by trained personnel, are the detection of symptoms suggestive of COVID 19 to prevent early transmission of the disease, proper hand washing, facilities with adequate infrastructure with sanitation measures and social distancing. Immunization also has a very important role since it will provide a good basis for the return to face-to-face academic activities, this being one of the main objectives of different organizations worldwide, such as WHO and UNICEF.
